The line runs from Pant, 3 miles North of Merthyr Tydfil, to Torpantau following part of the route of the original Brecon & Merthyr Railway which closed in 1964. Travel from our Main Station at Pant in one of our all-weather Observation Carriages, behind a vintage Steam Locomotive. The 9.5mile return journey takes you into the Brecon Beacons National Park, through Pontsticill and along the full length of the Taf Fechan Reservior before climbing to Torpantau high in the Brecon Beacons and the summit of the original line.At our main station in Pant you can visit our Licensed Tearooms for refreshments, gifts and souvenirs are available from our Shop. You can also visit our Workshop where the Steam Locomotives and Carriages are repaired. All trains travel non stop from Pant to Torpantau. All returning trains from Torpantau stop at our intermediate station in Pontsticill where you can visit our Lakeside Cafe, admire the view or go for walks alongside the reservoir, there is also a children’s play area here.
Trago Mills
The Superstore is conveniently located just off the A470 (Swansea Road) and opposite the Cyfarthfa Retail Park in Merthyr Tydfil. Our Merthyr store consists of over 23,200 square metres filled with over 100,000 home, garden and leisure products! Visit our store to see the full range, including carpets, clothing, DIY, furniture, fitted kitchens, toys, household essentials, furniture and much more. There are 38 departments packed with leading brands at highly discounted prices, special clearance offers and one-off bargains. Our Golden Aisle, in the middle of the store, changes every Friday and really is a “must see” when you visit Trago! In addition to over 180,000 bargains, the Merthyr Tydfil store is surrounded by areas to sit and relax or you can grab a bite to eat between the retail therapy! The Brickworks Coffee Shop has a great range of snacks, cakes & drinks and the Café has a great range of hot food and great prices. We also have our own tasty takeaway! Also on site you will find our fabulous soft play centre, Play-Zone@Trago which is the largest in South Wales. There’s no need to book just turn up and enjoy! It’s also a great place for your child’s birthday party, with four great themed rooms, or book the whole venue for a fully exclusive event!

Depart Carmarthen 1030hrs having collect the majority of excursion particpants and travel to The Brecon Montain Railway.
Train journey 1230hrs - 1410hrs
Visist Trago Mills 1430hrs - 1730hrs
Arrive back in Carmarthen approx. 1900hrs with set downs through to Narberth & Glandy cross to follow.
