A leisurely local departure for the afternoon sailing from Fishguard to Rosslare and on to our base for the week at The Dooley's Hotel, Waterford
DTuesday to Friday
Waterford was established by the Vikings in the 9th Century and has become the capital of Ireland’s sunny South East. Enjoy a guided walking tour of this historic city, visit the city’s museums and the world famous Waterford Crystal and its visitor centre.
County Wexford has so much to discover. The JFK Arboretum is a permanent memorial to America’s assassinated president with a wonderful international collection of trees and shrubs. In nearby New Ross, you will find the Dunbrody Famine Ship and the Ross Tapestry which is an intricately woven history of Ireland's past and a fascinating curiosity.
Kilkenny is a well-preserved medieval town, popular with tourists and with many original features. The best way to initially explore Kilkenny and its historic sights is on an included ride on a Kilkenny Road Train. Sit back and relax as it makes its way through the narrow streets to reveal the abbey, cathedral and many other highlights. This afternoon, explore the town and the castle for yourself.
A short journey on the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway takes you to Mount Congreve Gardens, one of The Great Gardens of the World, followed by a drive along the Copper Coast route through the national Geo-park with fine ocean views and fishing villages with a visit to Dungarvan before our final night in Waterford.
